Ecological modeller · quantitative ecologist
Post-doctoral researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), translating complex biological dynamics into actionable conservation and management strategies. I work with ordinary differential equations, machine learning and probability theory to forecast ecosystem responses, model wildlife epidemiology, and guide evidence-based policy.

Core competencies
What I do
Four strands of practice that recur in every project: computational, ecological, analytical, and applied.
Computational modelling
- Ordinary differential equations (ODE)
- Machine learning (hierarchical SDMs)
- Probability theory & Bayesian methods
- Process-based modelling
- Integrated population modelling
- Capture–recapture analyses
Ecological domains
- Agro-ecology
- Wildlife population dynamics
- Eco-epidemiology
- Conservation policy & management
- Predator–prey & food-web dynamics
- Boreal & farmland habitat systems
Analytical methodologies
- Habitat suitability & corridor modelling
- Species distribution models (MaxEnt, GBM)
- Reproductive success forecasting
- Regime & stability analyses
- Spatiotemporal analyses (QGIS / ArcGIS)
- Growth metrics & bias correction
Technical deployment
- Python · R · MATLAB · Stella
- Interactive web dashboards (JavaScript)

Models you can open
Decision-support applications built from the research — for foresters, wildlife managers, and game planners.
Habitat density for moose, roe deer and grey wolf across 374 grid cells under five IPCC pathways, 2025–2060 — machine-learning SDMs coupled to predator–prey ODEs.
Metabolizable energy and Jacobs' D preference indices for boreal ungulates — 72 records, Menke coefficients, open to community contribution.
A simulator of the black alder eco-epidemic system: within-season ODE and annual map, parasitoid biocontrol, regime-shift early warnings, and integrated pest-management comparison.
